Greek music definitely rates as one of the most pleasant to listen to. Greek music has a very long history from the 1910s where performers like Alkis Pagonis, Panos Samis , Fotis Polymeris used to sing greek music in those years of early 1900s. Rebetiko the emerged in the 1920s with the urban folk green much.
Inspired by Rebetikos , Éntekhno came about as one of the biggest hits in the 1950s. Éntekhno means ‘art song’ in english. Currently there are lots of green composers playing , and most people enjoy listening to greek music radio in their free time.
One of the latest albums to come around is the Ah kardia mou, by Galanos Konstantinos. Its a good mixture of Modern Laika and POP greek music. Ti leo and ‘Tha parakalas’ are the two top picks from this album.
In female artits - Iliadi Angeliki has done a good job with the album - Hamogelo ke prohorao. This album has generated good interest with tracks like Prosevhi and Pote den efiges!
